This is considered to be one of the best books to read about trauma. It’s long and has a lot of information but is written for the general public and well worth the read.

This is a wonderful book that gives a comprehensive overview of the Internal Family Systems Model of Therapy and how it can be used to improve your connection to your internal system. I highly recommend it.

This is an audiobook where the founder of Internal Family Systems walks you through the model. He includes lots of guided meditations and simple suggestions for incorporating IFS into your daily life.

This is another excellent book about how stress and trauma can show up in the body and lead to various illnesses and addictions.
The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy Deborah A. Dana
This is an excellent book about how our nervous system works and offers simple techniques that help to regulate the nervous system.
Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors Janina Fisher
This is another excellent book about the impact of trauma on people’s lives.
In An Unspoken Voice: How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness Peter Levine
This is a really good book about the way in which trauma gets stored in the body and how to tap into the body’s natural capacity to release it safely.

This is an audiobook that encourages us to see our vulnerability as a strength rather than a weakness. Brene Brown is a Social Researcher who discovered that people who were able to live from a place of vulnerability were whole-hearted and experienced greater well-being.

This is an audiobook about understanding the attachment styles you developed as a result of your early childhood, how these impact on your relationships and how to move towards secure attachment.

The title of this book promises a lot but it does give excellent information about what’s happening in the brain during depression and how to make small daily changes to create an upward spiral. The key is to practice what is suggested daily so the brain gradually rewires.
